The Pivot

Books are complete on the page. The hands have to be trained.

I went to Thailand the first time in 2005. I had been practicing for nine years and teaching for a few. I went to study with Pichest Boonthume in Chiang Mai. Two weeks. Then a year later, two more. Then again. Over the following twenty years, every time I returned to Thailand, I returned to him.

What I learned was not a set of techniques. Techniques are learnable in a weekend. What I learned was a different way of being inside a body, mine and someone else's. That the spine talks if you know how to listen. That tension held in the fascia has a quality, a direction, a history. That most chronic pain is not structural. It is held, and it can be released if approached with the right intelligence.

The four books in the bundle gave you the theory. Three maps, four words, the architecture of holding a room, the chapters on what fascia does in a long hold. They are complete on the page. What they cannot give you is the felt sense of what intelligent touch actually is. That part lives in the hands. And the hands have to be trained, the same way a voice has to be trained, the same way a long hold has to be practiced.

JDM Basic is the course I built to train them.

What Is Inside

Eight modules. One working framework.

Dialogue over monologue The core shift: from performing a protocol to facilitating a discovery. You offer a stimulus, the body responds, you listen and adapt. The student's body is the guide; your knowledge is the map.
The three maps in full Anatomy Trains as the physical chain of pull. Meridian Circuits as the emotional story. Sen Lines as the deeper river. Where they converge. Where they disagree. How to read all three on the same body.
The four words and the sensation ladder Background, Annoyed, Pain, Injury. The vocabulary that replaces crisis language with information language. The 0 to 4 intensity scale your client uses to give you live data instead of drama.
The three pain guides Intensity, Direction, Resolution. The non-negotiable safety rules co-created with the client at the start of every session. Annoyed stays at or below 4 of 10. As you move, it holds or reduces. When you stop, it stops.
The traffic-light method Green, Yellow, Red. The real-time clinical decision framework you run silently while the body in front of you tells you which way to move next. Build on Green, explore Yellow with respect, de-load Red.
The four-session arc Invitation, Feedback Loop, Integration, Independence. The structure that turns one-off relaxation appointments into a real therapeutic relationship. Each session has its own goal, its own scripts, its own homework.
How to set up a session The standing assessment. The relaxation-versus-therapy choice. The house-and-stain analogy. How to find the body's "loudest word" before the client lies down and turn it into the working hypothesis for the hour.
How to close a session The one demonstrable homework before they leave. The three feedback questions you will ask next time. How to hand the work back to the client so the therapeutic relationship fulfills its highest aim, which is to make itself gradually unnecessary.
Honest Fit

Who this is for

A yoga teacher who works with bodies that hurt. A massage therapist who has felt the ceiling of relaxation work and wants to do real therapy. A physical therapist who has noticed that protocol does not reach the patterns clinical training did not name. Anyone who has read the four books in the bundle and felt the gap between knowing the theory and applying it under hands.

Who this is not for

Someone looking for a weekend certification to add to a website. JDM Basic is a working framework, not a credential. It requires you to actually use it on real bodies and bring the data back. If that is not the relationship you want with a course, the books are enough.

"Good for me, good for you."
Pichest Boonthume

Working on other bodies healed mine. When the hands learn to feel what is held, the body of the giver starts releasing what it has been carrying. The practice is bidirectional. You become a better practitioner of yoga, a better teacher, and someone whose own body gets lighter, not heavier, with the years.

That is the principle the course is built on. The therapist's body sustainability is not a side note. It is baked into the biomechanics, the pacing, and the four-session arc itself. A practice you can keep doing in ten years and twenty.

The cards are yours either way.

If this is the right next step, JDM Basic turns the books into a method you can actually run. If it is not the right step today, nothing is lost. Your sampler cards stay with you, and the teaching arc continues.
